On March 6, 2017, the Humane Society of Adams County lost a very important member of its animal care team when the shelter dryer finally coughed its last. Never does the amount of waste produced by over 35 dogs and cats become more apparent than when six heaping loads of soggy towels and blankets, (a single day’s worth), has to be heaved outside to dry or into a vehicle and driven to a laundromat for drying.
To make matters worse, on top of the inconvenience of lugging heavy baskets to and fro, “Ol’ Thumper” is voicing her own displeasure of losing her mate. Ol’ Thumper is the animal shelter’s cantankerous washing machine. She is the goddess to which shelter staff and volunteers bow and curtsy, for if Thumper has a bad day… Just imagine the last time you cleaned up after a newborn, subtract a diaper, and multiply by 35.
So… if you happen to have some spare change lying around, (perhaps in the pockets of those jeans you were about to toss in the wash), please consider sending it to the Humane Society of Adams County at HSAC, P.O. Box 245, West Union, OH 45693 to help fund a new industrial washer and dryer for the animal shelter. Donations may be tax-deductible. Please write “washer/dryer” in the memo line of all checks. Donations may be made online through PayPal at http://www.adamscountyanimals.org./ The homeless animals of Adams County – and their caregivers – thank you.
