Barbara Moore, a local lawyer, and recent Republican candidate for County Court Judge has been appointed to fill the Adams County Commissioner’s seat left behind by State Representative Brian Baldridge by the Adams County Central Committee.

Applicants included Troy L. Dotson of Seaman, Barbara A. Moore of Winchester, Randy N. Chandler of West Union, Troy A. Jolly of Manchester, Joseph Wright of Seaman, and Dane R. Clark of West Union.

The committee heard from each candidate before voting by written ballots in a public session at the Wayside Inn in West Union, Ohio on Thursday night.

“Appointing a county officeholder is one of the most important responsibilities of the Central Committee,” said Bill Foster, Chairman of the Central Committee. “The slate of potential appointees is diverse and very experienced,” said Foster prior to the meeting. “We are confident that the committee will choose an excellent Commissioner for the people of Adams County. Voters here trust the Republican Party and that is why our candidates continue to win year after year.”

The appointment comes after former Commissioner Brian Baldridge resigned last month to take a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives.

The committee also voted to fill a position on the Adams County Board of Election. The committee voted to elect Donna Gray beating incumbent Tim Lewis.
