Mary Jo Jones, age 94, of Paintsville, Kentucky, formerly of Manchester, died at the Prestonburg Health Care Center on Thursday, August 22, 2019. She was born on March 4, 1925, in Mason County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Omar and Cecil (Marshall) Lawrence. Mary Jo was a factory worker at Hercules in Manchester for 56 years prior to her retirement. She also attended the Free Will Baptist Church on occasions when her health allowed. Mary Jo married the love of her life, Albert Jones, and together the two shared many years of love and happiness.
Mary Jo was a hard-working woman who loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved animals and was always fun-loving.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; her daughter, Joann Renchen; and her siblings, Betty, Katherine “Teeny”, Margie, and Harold. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Roger) Castle of Paintsville, KY and Diana King of Aberdeen, Ohio; her grandchildren, Buffy, Tiffany, Roger, Dion, Dennis, Damon, Devin, April, Lisa, and Brad; and multiple great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mary Jo at Wilson Home for Funerals on Sunday, August 25 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Burial will take place at Manchester Cemetery. Rev. Dale Little will officiate.
