Press Release:

West Union, Ohio – Stan Wernz will be the featured speaker at the Adams County Republican Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner on Thursday, April 4 at the Willow Event Center, 7662 Eckmansville Rd, Winchester, Ohio 45697. He has portrayed Honest Abe without a script thousands of times since a young student first noticed how Abe-like Wernz was.

“In 1969, I was teaching in North College Hill, and I grew a beard. One day in the hallway, a student yelled out to me ‘Hey Abe!’ ” Wernz said. He said he was taken aback by the comment and gently admonished the boy, who replied, “ ‘No disrespect, man. You always looked like him and now you act like him.’ ”

Event attendees will witness one of the country’s premier Lincoln presenters quote from great speeches, war patriotic and answer questions from his curious and captivated audience.

“I arrive in character and stay in character unless the host or hostess asks me to break character to answer certain questions. Anything about Lincoln is fair game,” said Wernz, a resident of Wyoming, Ohio who at age 80 is hobbled from surgery, but still will stand tall in his stovepipe hat – just like Lincoln.

Wernz said he hopes everyone will enjoy his 30- to 35-minute performance and that “when they leave, they will know it is correct to erect these bronze and marble statues to the people who have sacrificed their lives in the name of liberty.”

“We are proud to have Mr. Wernz as our 2019 Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner featured speaker as we look to energize our party and club for an exciting year and begin implementing strategies that will make Republicans successful across Adams County,” said Adams County Republican Club President John Robinson.

The social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. and a catered dinner by JT Stove Top will follow at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 general public and can be purchased from Adams County Republican Club Treasurer Mary Jane Campbell by calling 937-544-4131. Tickets will also be sold at the event.
