After 14 years of dedicated service, Roy Cooper, the machine shop instructor at the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center (OVCTC), will be retiring on September 30. Since 2010, Cooper has played a pivotal role in training students for successful careers in the machining industry, helping them secure jobs across southern Ohio.
Cooper’s commitment to preparing his students for the workforce has earned him respect within the community, and his departure will leave a significant gap for his eventual replacement. As Cooper looks ahead, he plans to enjoy his retirement by spending winters in Florida and summers in Manchester. The staff at OVCTC wish him the very best in this next chapter of his life.

In honor of his retirement, former students who now work at H M Defense in Mt. Orab crafted a special gift—an AR-15 style rifle with custom engraving on the receiver, symbolizing Cooper’s impact on their lives and careers.
