Just in time for Christmas, the long-awaited Precinct Cafe opened on Friday with dozens of community members on hand to celebrate. As reported by this newspaper throughout the year, the project has been in the works for some time, under the leadership and vision of the Adams County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The occasion was also marked by proclamations by the Ohio Secretary of State, the Office of the Ohio Governor, and the Ohio Treasurer’s Office.
An impressive menu awaits you and there’s sure to be something on it that you’ll fall in love with. The cafe features an over-ice menu and a hot drink menu, all with special brews in multiple flavors. In addition, the cafe offers a breakfast and lunch menu that includes muffins, bagels, soups, salads, muffins, cookies and so much more.
If readers are familiar with the history and many stories of the building, they will appreciate certain drinks named to represent the 130 years of history. For example, the “Tyrone” is named after the building ghost and is a white chocolate mocha, while the “Jailer” will be a caramel macchiato.
In an effort to spread kindness, the cafe also features monthly giving back. In January, the cafe will feature “Poverty in America.”
Earlier this fall, the Adams County Association for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities announced that Sierra Purdin has been named General Manager. According to the association, Purdin comes to the cafe’ and coffee shop with experience in many business avenues and has hired leads and baristas.
The Employment First opportunity has been created to support the employment of people with disabilities in a very community-inclusive environment.
