Lafferty Funeral Home, located in West Union, Ohio, recently celebrated a significant milestone as they marked their 175th anniversary. Earlier this month, the Board of County Commissioners recognized members of the Lafferty family in honor of the occasion.
During the presentation, Commissioners Barbara Moore and Diane Ward acknowledged the presence of Eric Lafferty, Elaine Lafferty, Richard Lafferty, Alexandria Clark, Liz Lafferty, and Greg Lafferty. Unfortunately, John T. Lafferty and John R. Lafferty were unable to attend the event.

Since 1848, the Lafferty family has been serving the people of West Union and the surrounding areas when William Voris Lafferty opened the Lafferty Funeral Home. Over the past 175 years, the funeral home has undergone many changes, including the 12th US President Zachary Taylor’s term in office and Ohio becoming a state just 45 years earlier. Despite these changes, the Lafferty family has continued to serve the needs of area families, with the sixth generation of Lafferty family members now running the business.
At present, John R. Lafferty, the son of Elaine and John T., is overseeing the family’s funeral home services. They take pride in the fact that they have served the community for so long and have earned the trust and respect of their neighbors. The Lafferty family remains dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence that has been their hallmark for generations.
