The Adams County/Ohio Valley School District accepted the resignation of Brian Switzer, who serves as the Treasurer of the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District on September 19th.
According to board minutes, Robin Lucas made the motion and Tiffany DeMint seconded the motion to approve the motion of Switzer’s resignation effective 12/31/22. In an earlier motion, Robin Lucas and Richard Davis moved and seconded a motion to approve the use of vacation leave by Brian Switzer and to appoint Sherri Spencer as Treasurer Pro Tempore. “Such appointment is pursuant to Board Policy BCCA and guideline BCCA-R,” read the resolution.
Documents say that Switzer was being paid $95,856.08 per year and in July was given a 3% raise, which raised his total to $98,731.76. Switzer was hired in the district at the 12/10/2015 board meeting and his effective date of hire was January 1, 2016.
The Informer contacted Superintendent Rich Seas and asked questions regarding the sudden departure of Switzer. No questions were answered, however, the district responded quickly to public records requests from this publication.
The Treasurer Pro Tempore Sherri Spencer had her latest contract approved by the Board of Education in April 2020. At that time, Spencer was appointed to serve for three years as Assistant Treasurer and Payroll Clerk for a sum of $77,037.00 per year. It is unclear if she will be appointed District Treasurer at the end of the year when Switzer’s resignation becomes effective.
Just last year, the district pushed back on financial rumors surrounding the district. At that time, Switzer released an email saying that “many sets of eyes watch what is happening here in the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District.” “So, contrary to some rumors that may be going on in the buildings and in the community, the taxpayers’ money is safe and accounted for here in the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District,” said Switzer. “These [sic] are at least 6 sets of external, and many more sets of internal eyes, always watching all financial activity of the district,” said Switzer in October 2021.
