A Miamisburg man, who was in the custody of the Adams County Sherriff’s office has been charged with murder. The man was transferred from the Adams County Jail where he was being held on a probation violation to the Montgomery County Jail after he was indicted for a November 2021 stabbing death of his former father-in-law.
On September 2nd, Tylor Phillip Cawood was indicated in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for six counts of murder, two counts each of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and felonious assault, and one count of tampering with evidence.
According to reports, Miami Twp. police were called when a woman found her father’s body inside his home, which had been ransacked, police said.
According to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, an autopsy revealed that 80-year-old Jack Gilbert of Miami Twp. had been stabbed more than 30 times, according to reports, Cawood was linked to the crime by DNA evidence.
In 2019, Cawood plead guilty to assault and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and one year of probation. In January 2021, the Adams County Probation Departed reported to the courts, Cawood cooperated with his sentenced probation.
