The man who served the region as the OSU Agricultural and Natural Resources Educator is retiring later this month. David Dugan, who has been a fixture on Adams County farms for over two decades announced his departure last week.
Over the years, Dugan has served as the ANR Educator for Adams County and for a period of time Brown and Highland Counties. Dugan conducted training and programming primarily in beef production and other livestock, tobacco education, and good agricultural practices, pesticide and fertilizer training, and forage production.
He also has written a weekly newspaper for area publications, including the Informer, and has a frequent radio program on C103. Dugan is active with the Adams County Farm Bureau and the Ohio Tobacco Festival Museum. He is also the elected Fiscal Officer for Sprigg Township and plans to continue his service to the township.
OSU Extension works to help local residents and community leaders enhance and sustain the environment and natural areas throughout the state, balancing economic advancement with environmental sustainability. Dugan has also been instrumental in helping producers develop and expand profitable, sustainable farming and other agricultural businesses, creating jobs and economic opportunity for local citizens.
The public is invited to attend and celebrate the retirement of Dugan on Monday, February 24 from one until four in the afternoon (Noon Dugan Standard Time), at the OSU Extension Conference Room located at 215 N. Cross Street in West Union.
