Increased financial support has allowed the Joe Burrow Foundation and La Soupe to strengthen their collaboration in the fight against food insecurity by expanding services to Adams County. This enhanced effort includes biweekly food deliveries designed to provide critical nourishment to the community.
Every two weeks, La Soupe’s culinary team rescues surplus food and transforms it into approximately 500 chef-prepared servings, which are then delivered to Peebles High School. Over the course of a year, this initiative will add 11,440 meals to the county’s food supply. The deliveries will arrive in a refrigerated van, purchased with funding from the Joe Burrow Foundation to ensure safe transport of perishable items.
In addition to the prepared meals, each delivery will include roughly 200 pounds of essential grocery items, such as fresh vegetables, dairy products, and dry goods, for local distribution.
This expansion was made possible through the generous backing of Northwestern Mutual and its managing partner, Shawn Kelley, a resident of Adams County. The Joe Burrow Foundation and La Soupe have already worked together for over a year, delivering more than 178,000 servings of food to communities in Greater Cincinnati and Athens, Ohio. The latest expansion to Peebles and Adams County underscores their shared commitment to addressing food insecurity in Appalachia, where access to fresh, nutritious food is often scarce.
Looking ahead, the Joe Burrow Foundation aims to continue the delivery program throughout the 2024-2025 school year, furthering its mission to uplift underserved communities across the region.
