The rifle and pistol shooting range at Tranquility Wildlife Area in Adams County will temporarily close for maintenance beginning Monday, April 21, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The range is expected to reopen in late May following the completion of the work.
Planned maintenance includes repairing cracks and erosion on the berms, adding sand to the backstops, and reseeding grass across the facility. For updates on the range status, visit wildohio.gov or contact the Tranquility Wildlife Area at (937) 987-2508.
During the closure, shooters are encouraged to visit alternative locations such as the Indian Creek Wildlife Area Shooting Range in Brown County or the Spring Valley Wildlife Area Shooting Range in Greene County. Indian Creek offers a Class B unsupervised rifle and pistol range, while Spring Valley features a Class A supervised facility.
All individuals aged 18 and older using Class A, B, or C Division of Wildlife shooting ranges are required to have a valid shooting range permit. Permits are available online at wildohio.gov, through the HuntFish OH mobile app, and at licensed hunting and fishing vendors. Permits are not sold onsite at the ranges. Options include a one-day permit for $5 or an annual permit for $24.
