Early voting for the 2024 General Election is set to begin in Ohio, offering voters multiple ways to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day. Ohioans can start voting the day after the close of voter registration on October 8th, with options to vote by absentee ballot or in-person at local Board of Elections offices.
In Adams County, voters can request an absentee ballot by contacting the Adams County Board of Elections at 937-544-2633. Those who prefer to vote in person can visit the Board of Elections’ new location at 923 Sunrise Avenue in West Union. The Board recently moved from the Adams County Government Center to the former Adams County Health Department building on Sunrise Avenue, so voters are encouraged to take note of this change.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose issued a series of reminders as early voting begins, ensuring voters that election officials are fully prepared for the upcoming election. “Tedious preparation is the key to executing any successful election, and Ohioans can have confidence that no matter which of Ohio’s three convenient methods of voting they choose, their vote will be secure,” LaRose stated.
For those who requested absentee ballots, local boards will start mailing them on October 8th. Secretary LaRose encourages voters to research their choices and return their absentee ballots as soon as possible. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by November 4th and received no later than four days after Election Day.
Voters are reminded to adhere to Ohio’s rules regarding absentee ballot returns. Ballots returned for a family member or disabled individual must be handed directly to an official at the county board of elections. Personal ballots can also be dropped off using designated drop boxes.
To vote in-person either during early voting or on Election Day (November 5th), Ohio voters must present a valid photo ID at their polling location. Accepted forms of ID include an Ohio driver’s license, state ID card, U.S. passport, and other approved identification.
Election Day is set for November 5th, with polls open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Voters can find their polling locations and view the full voting schedule online.
