Last week, members of Church 180 provided lunch for volunteers and the Ohio National Guard lunch as a gesture of gratitude for delivering food and supplies to local families during the pandemic. On Friday, it was announced that with the school extra food meals ending on Wednesday, May 20th, an anonymous donation was made to keep the program up and running through the summer.
“With willing volunteers, the church community is pleased to announced that their food assistance will continue through the summer. With no other government meal programs being offered this summer, local churches stepped up and formulated a program called “Summer Blessings.” According to organizers, the program is an extension of the already operational programs helping children and families on a weekly basis – and there will be no break in assistance.
Food for children in need will be available at the following designated areas: Peebles (Grace Fellowship), North Adams (Church 180), West Union (West Union Church of Christ). The assistance will be available each Wednesday from 5 until 6 p.m. The location and day for Manchester will be announced in the coming days.
According to Talitha Parks at Church 180, the food assistance is for families with children living at home and all Adams County children are eligible for assistance regardless of income.
